Join us for a special performance by the Mizzou New Music Ensemble of The Influences Symphony, made up of works by four MU student composers that interpret, engage with, and extend Missouri’s rich musical history with decidedly contemporary ears. Each composer has chosen one style of music that has shaped the state’s culture—blues, ragtime, country, hip-hop—and used it as the basis for a new composition, in which traditions past and present meld, converse, and ultimately understand each other as part of Missouri’s deep musical landscape.
